Remembering our dog Duke

Our family dog, Duke was ran over today. We had just set down to have  dinner when a lady came to knock on our door.
She politely asked "is that your dog?"  I said yes it is. Then asked the kids to go into the house.
She said she was driving down the road and just saw him there. Thankfully she stopped to tell us.
. Sunshine was upset with this ,keeping it tucked inside. Little Man is having a hard time tonight. This was his pup. They have been the best of friends. As I was holding tearful Little Man,I could just feel his heart breaking.
Something a mother never wants their child to feel. I knew this was the first of many losses in his life. Each one he will grow and one day see. Even understanding that this is what happens in life.
It's always hard to loss someone you love even your family's pet.

I am soo sorry this happened. We lost one of our dogs last year and the kids were heartbroken. It was an older dog but it still hurts the same way!!! You guys are in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this.

Awww Cat I'm so sorry! I can't imagine something happening to one of our dogs. I will be praying for y'all. Life can be so hard and unfair and we naturally never want to see our kids go through hard times, but we also know that it makes them stronger people. I love y'all!
Love, Mel.

Thank you all. Today was sad being outside without our little Duke but each day will get better. I told J he would not have the deep hurt he feels forever. It takes time and each day will get a little better. When he woke up this morning he told me all about this great dream he had of him and duke out in the yard playing. I told him that was special and in some ways it can feel as if Duke was visiting.

Here are a few verses of comfort...

Psalm 34:18
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
