Our Home School Nook~

I wanted to share with you all our home school area~ We are kitchen table homeschoolers. When I first started homeschooling I dreamt of having a designated room for our home school. Now I really don't know how I would swing all my responsibilities in a different room. I can cook, fold laundry, iron, mop sit in the living room floor ( that is right off the kitchen) to play with Sweet pea and so much more while being along side them for any help they need. It has really worked out. At the same time I didn't want all the clutter of books etc around the kitchen so I turned Our cabinets into our homeschooling nook. This way we can open the doors during school and close them when finished. Its works as shelves and walls. If you can see all of Little Mans reading level books are located on the bottom right shelf and the turn in work is on the bottom left shelf. I also love that it keeps little Sweet Pea out of the school work. Each child has their own drawer located at the bottom of my hutch~

i love it! I have been thinking about doing a homeschool post and sharing our schoolroom with anyone out there that would be interested in reading....you know, what we do and where we do it...and we are also kitchen table homeschoolers. It just works out for the best

Fabulous!! I love your "turn in" shelf! We've recently utilized our small side table (with cabinet underneath) for the same purpose. I was a school-room gal, but all of the kids had to move around when Little Lad moved out of the crib. Then we tried school desks right in the kitchen, but it soon became too cluttered. Soooo, we're right back at the kitchen table. I keep their things in a tub that we pull out each day, work, and then slide the tub back into the cabinet. :-) And, you're right, it sure is nice to load dishes and still be close enough to help the kids.

That is great that you have cabinet and drawer space for the work. We use our kitchen table and living room for our homeschool as well. I have most of the supplies in my office closet, but the daily supplies are in a pantry close to the table.

I love how organized your shelves are. I wish my homeschool nook looks this great. We're Catholic as well. As a first-time homeschooler, I haven't had the time to actually join a group in my area. Any tips/advice? =)

I love meeting people with the same interest as us. How wonderful blogging is, you meet friends across the states even the world. Last year was our first year to hs and I guess I can tell you it was much more doable then I even knew! We love it. We also come from a small town that didnt have a hs group so we put a add in the paper and then had many call backs. Good Luck with everything~

How much I do love people who properly homeschool their kids, I think I would just go insane.
My 6 year old alerady drives me nuts about wanting to know everything about everything. And I try to help him as much as I can. And when not knowing the answer, we look for it together.
Yet I just dont have enough patience to homeschool. I dont even have enough for myself, let alone teaching.

But I do love your whole cabinet. It looks so much fun.

Oh the sweet memories I have of those days. My kids are all grown now, but one. He is 16 and does most of his schoolwork on the computer, now. I so miss having "little" ones to teach.
I am moving into a new adventure. I am a grandmother and quite enjoy the new adventures GOD is ushering into my life.

Blessings, andrea
