The day Sunshine found her shadow!!!

The day Sunshine received her name was a bright fall day. She was at the age of two and we had just dropped her brother off at school. Obviously this was before we decided to home school. With so much more time on our hands Sunshine and I would spend the entire day enjoying our girl time. This was a day we decided to go to the park for a walk. On this walk Sunshine finds her shadow and grows to love the sun! In the first photograph she is smiling at me not even noticing her shadow! As you can see in the second photograph she is looking down most defiantly viewing her shadow for the first time... She begins to walk away and as she walks faster this black something keeps following her. She then looks to me with a worried face and asked "Mommy whats that touching my feet? It wont go away! I then answer her with the most simple answer I can give a two year old. I tell her God made the sun for light. Sometimes the sun can draw pictures of you and anything else it shines down on. These pictures are called shadows. She then likes her shadow and even decides to have a little fun with it!!! This is one reason she is my Sunshine girl the other is because her smile brightens all my days and just her being the beautiful little girl she is, warms my heart like the sun... I love you my sweet Sunshine girl....

That is such a sweet post. Thanks for sharing how she got her name. I always wonder why bloggers use certain names for their kids.

What a beautiful answer you gave her as to what her shadow was. Now it can offer her comfort instead of being something that causes her fear! She truly is a blessing in your life.

Her fascination with her shadow is adorable. I don't think any of mine so far have been fascinated with that, but I remember being really fascinated by shadows when I was a child.
