I have now been inspired

I have now been inspired, after watching the movie Julie and Julia. I started thinking how much I could learn if I took on my own recipe challenge. Now I don't think mine will be as dramatic of a challenge as Julies was. To tell you truth I love to cook but really only have a handful of recipes I'm good at. I try to mix them up as much as possible. But even though it gets a little boring cooking the same thing over and over again. As I'm typing this I'm humored with the thought of creativity. Being creative with whats left in our cabinets after a two week run with a family of five on one income. This spring and summer the possibilities will grow due to our garden. Stating that I will not be able to make up detailed recipes each day. The challenge I'm thinking of lands more on the idea of one to two new recipes per week. Although the starchy, butter filled delicious recipes we all loved eating in our grandmothers kitchen would be something I would enjoy learning. I have decide to go with a healthy cookbook full of healthy family recipes. Now to just narrow down the cookbook of choice??? UMMM still thinking on that one. Another thing that is going on 'In the Kitchen" is the fact that I have decided even though we will be spending three more years here in our tiny home, I'm not going to wait for some of the loves I plan to add in our next kitchen. Pots hung from above. Ahhh I have always loved this. Allen has decided to build me a pot rack for our kitchen... This is very exciting.... Here are a few designs we found~
As we are here talking about family food recipes I wanted to share this link I came across while googling healthy cookbooks. http://www.celebratehealthyeating.org/index.htm
If you have any ideas on what cookbook would be a smart choice for my challenge I would be extremely grateful~

Hello, I'm Joy. I've been reading your blog now for over four months so I thought I should introduce myself. Thanks for writing, by the way, you have brightened a few of my days.
Anyway, I have a total of 16 cookbooks and there is one that stands high above the rest. It's title is: Cooking a commonsense guide by Whitecap Books.

I would dearly love to have my pots hanging out, too --if only I have the space for them! Right now, I have to bend down and dig them out whenever I have to use them.

We watched that movie too, and I was also inspired to cook!

First, I loved that movie. I was also inspired not to cook but for some other things.

Good for you cooking up those healthy meals. Please, share your adventure.

Julie and Julia is what ultimately made me decide I CAN do this blogging thing! :) I watched it in early Jan! Deceptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfeld. It is a mom's cookbook for healthy choices for kids... I modify most of the recipes I love in it... but it is a great cooking for kids cookbook! hm... you could do one kid recipe and one grown-up recipe a week?? ;) just an idea! I thought of doing it... but I am not up for the challenge! LOL! Good Luck!

I love the idea of my pots hanging instead of in a cabinet. I think it looks great too. As long as they are somewhat alike. :)

My favorite cookbooks are any of the Moosewood ones. Building a pot rack sounds like fun. Hubby and I dream of a gourmet kitchen someday, but doing small things to add some fun and gourmet touches when we can now is a great idea.

Thanks for visiting my blog! I'm not very good at keeping up, but trying to get better.

Have a lovely weekend!

I love the hanging pots! Can't wait to see them in your kitchen. :-)
One of my favorite cookbooks is one that a therapist at work gave to Greg, with recipes from the Catholic parish at Mena.
And I love my vegetarian cookbook, but I'm too lazy to go see what it's called. lol
But what I probably use most are the free recipe sites on the internet. I just type in what I'm looking for in google, and voila. Plus, people who have tried the recipes leave ratings and comments and tell about changes they have made to the recipes. I print them and keep them in a binder--in page protectors so that when I spill stuff on them, I can just wipe it off.

We have the Biggest Loser family cookbook and have loved all the recipes we've tried. It's hard to find healthy recipes that the whole family will enjoy...
