Christmas Program

Following Mass we spent the day with Father and my dear friend Marie decorating the church for Christmas celebration.  Oh and my days have been filled with little voices practicing for the Christmas program. Have I told you how blessed we are to have an amazing priest? He is filled with the holy spirit and it shines through him in a wonderful way.
He sings beautiful. This year the children sang Go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born. We then had our teens read scripture along with a poem of the Christmas Story.
Father Harvey  blessed us with the song Mary did you know.  It is a beautiful song, especially while looking at these sweet faces. To end the program our Star along with the Holy Family lead the play out as they sang The First Noel.   Today I am thanking the Lord for our church family as we united in the Mass.

Do you know who created the very first nativity scene?
It was Saint Francis of Assisi, a twelfth-century churchman,  best known as the founder of the Franciscan Order of Friars. He is also credited with creating the very first nativity scene, as a way to convey the ideas of Christmas to an illiterate congregation. The First Manger Scene
In 1224, Saint Francis had the idea of creating a “living” recreation of the birth of Jesus, as a way to bring the Christmas spirit to the local villagers. Here we are today continuing this wonderful tradition.

I have to tell you that my little Stan, since watching your little one sing on the video, has been trying his hardest to sing Go Tell It On The Mountain. He'll interrupt his singing to tell us that it is his favorite song, and then continue singing on.

Your pageant pictures are cute! We had our homeschool pageant almost two weeks ago and the church pageant is Friday. ( I love Christmas pageants!)

I had to add a comment of my Grandmothers call today. She said Catherine the program looked wonderful. She could was happy to see our church growing in the youth but she felt tired as she looked at my post b/c the poor woman that put this together must be tired.
