A night out at the Ballet with my Sunshine girl. A window into my heart...

Ballet Magnificat is a Christian dance company located in Jackson, Mississippi and is considered the premiere Christian dance company in the United States. As soon as I heard they would be preforming here I knew we would go. Its important to me that I expose the children to art among many other subjects of life. I was somewhat torn between this being a family event or an opportunity for Sunshine girl and myself to have a date night. After talking with Allen about my torn indecisive thoughts. I decided a mommy daughter night out would be such a special evening for us both. We were dressed from our heads to our feet. Curlers, make- up, lip gloss for sunshine, pale pink nail polish, our purses, dresses and heels. Sunshine girl also brought along one of her favorite dolls. We called my mother on our way so Sunshine could tell her all about our plans. I heard her go over the details of her dress, hair etc. The exciting what ifs and guess whats of the performance. Then I hear guess what Grandma,,, Mommy she has high heels on too. I thought to myself what a small thing high heels were in my choice of wardrobe but how huge it was to her. I'm more of a flats kind of girl. I don't break out the heels too often. Toward the end of their conversation I heard Sunshine say and Grandma I get to get home late.... Past my bed time late. I absolutely loved that line. She was out on the town and beyond excited about it. The rest of our hour drive was filled with visiting, laughing and singing what Sunshine calls " Our Girly Music" Pulling up to the ballet, I was surprised in how large of a place it is and just how full the parking lot was. Walking up to the door Sunshine says momma I'm shaking. I then asked why are you shaking??? She said I'm just so excited. It warmed my heart. I was excited as well. Mostly excited to be out with my daughter. The performance was simply excellent. We also had some of the best seats in the house. This says a lot with the amount of people standing along the walls. The place was packed. While there we found out this group of dancers have preformed all over the world and just made it back from Europe. How awesome it was to be sitting a watching such great talent. Walking to the car after the show Sunshine says mommy I want to dance like that when I grow up. I told her she could be anything she wanted to be. She then said I want to be a mommy just like you. Even with it being 9 o'clock we weren't just ready for the night to end. Coffee sounded delicious to me. I thought ummmm,,, Starbucks! Watching her walk in with her doll and purse, I adored that my little girl is enjoying being little. It filled me with happiness but at the same time a small amount of sadness. This time in our life is short and fast. One day this will just be a special memory for the both of us. But for now its our reality and I'm going to absorb up every bit of it. We shared a cookie while Sunshine drank her milk and I enjoyed my coffee. It was now about 9:45 pm. She had a sleepiness in her bright green eyes. I said hey lets just wrap our cookie up and have the rest tomorrow. She sleepily agreed. In no time my little princess was fast asleep. My mind drifted with thoughts of my little Sunshine Girl. I thought of how Allen and I created her and how she was both of us. She is our primary gift from God. How thankful I was to be able to love someone the way I loved her and my other children as well. Love like this is something I had no idea existed. Its overwhelmingly strong. Each child I have, it grows. I don't share the love I have, I grow more love... With every child I add love into my heart, love into my being. Wow what a gift!!! Thinking of our love for our children then leads my thoughts for the love God has for us. It is so huge and powerful that we only understand a small fragment of his love. Wow we are special. Special to be loved and created by our Lord. To find out more about Ballet Magnificat here is their link http://www.balletmagnificat.com/A_newfirst.html
