...Sweet Pea turned three a few weeks ago. Can she really be three? The baby always seems younger then they really are. Sweet Pea also has been slower building her vocabulary along with potty training. This can be another reason she has felt like a baby to us.
...Here we are a few weeks into being three and her vocabulary has bloomed. We still have trouble understanding her but its flowing and were excited about it. She makes us laugh many times per day... Turning three has also brought on what I like to call "a phase". Its the three "phase" I recognize from our older children that have pulled us through each of their three "phases". Some of you too may be familiar with this three "phase" I speak of. Its full of melt downs, compulsive toddler entitlement, opposites, and the power to say no~ I will win here and in the end make a happier child because of it. We all use different areas of discipline. What works best for us is persistence ,time-outs along with communication and love. If all goes as I plan the "phase" should be over in a few weeks.
...So what did we do to kick off this big year of turning three? Here are a few photographs of that special day. Opened gifts of blocks and books. Went out for pizza and fun with stick-on mustaches.
...After church the next day we enjoyed a visit to Grandma and Grandpas for Barbie cake and lunch. The girls both wore their homemade crowns and loved Grandmas cake. Sunshine said it was the most beautiful cake in the world. I'm sure Sweet Pea was thinking the same thing... Happy Birthday to our beautiful Sweet Pea~

the barbie cake is so cute. and, yes, I am very familiar with that stage. :)
Happy Birthday!! Love the cake, my Mom use to make them for my birthdays. Three is certainly lots of fun LOL. But each stage is a blessing and it does fly by too fast! Have a great evening.
Blessings,
Jill
love the cake!! Hope she had a wonderful birthday!
love the cake!! Hope she had a wonderful birthday!
I love the Barbie cake! Can you tell me how you made the hat? I think that would be a fun project for my girls.
aww happy birthday!
she seems younger to me too. But thats a good thing. Kids grow up too fast and act much older than they are too often.
sofia will be 3 next month. oh my! time flies by sooooo fast.
I tried making a barbie cake like that last bday but it flopped.
Happy Birthday to little Sweet Pea! My Sweet Pea is coming up on four (yikes!) and best wishes to you on this "phase". Their personalities are all so different, aren't they???? Hugs to you, friend...keep up the great work of raising your precious children.
XOXO Kathy
Haha, this is great! And Happy belated to Sweet Pea, she is a dollface!
Awwwww... Happy birthday to your sweet girl! Grandma did a fabulous job on the Barbie cake. I know it was a hit in our house when I made one for Gracie's pj party. So fun! Love the funny family pix. Too cute!
I have been through that phase with Bug and I see it coming at me full force again with my twins! Oh dear. But good job you! You know that you will lovingly get her through this phase, learning that you are the mom and she is the child. God set it up that way for a reason and children feel their safest and most comfortable when they know the boundaries. You are such a good mother!
She is such a sweet cutie--3 years goes by so fast doesn't it!
Happy birthday to your 3 year old!Beautiful pictures!Blessings Marla Grace
Making the crowns, I need to do a post on this. Until then Ill tell you... Cut out in shape of crown with thick paper. Next cut out fabric, pulled it around the paper crown adding ribbon for bows and tie in the back~ Catherine
She's a doll. Love the cake, too.
Happy Belated Birthday and love your cake!

You have a beautiful family!! I love this post! So fun, so sweet and wonderful pictures! Happy Birthday to your sweet girl!
Happy Birthday to Sweet Pea.
We are in the potty training phase and it is so difficult. My Princess is 2 1/2 (she will be 3 in Dec.) and is not interested in going on the potty. We can "make" her, but many times she still whines about being "forced" to go. I try to use incentives, but she just doesn't seem to care. My MIL told me it will happen when she wants. But what if she is 4? Oh, my this is more difficult than I thought :)
So very sweet! Happy Birthday to your precious baby girl! I know exactly what you mean about *three* by the way. People always used to say "terrible twos", and I was like, what?
Three year old melt downs...ugh...It,too, shall pass.
What a great barbie cake. Perfect for a little girl. :)
Awwww- Happy b-day :)
Yep... I think there is no such thing as terrible twos... they are still sweet and distractable at that age. Three is when the strong will arrives! ;) I love love the picture of her leaning over the table with the cake!! cute cute!
Thanks Catherine. I think the girls will have a lot of fun making those hats!
Thank you all for stopping in
