A day in the "Big City" ~ It was really just a must when it came to naming this post.
If you follow us, you know we live way out on our little homestead where the stars shine bright. There are no tall buildings filled with offices and flashes of the city life. Nope we're from the county... Hehe!!! Although Allen and I prefer to raise our family in the wide open spaces of the country, that doesn't mean we don't have a love for the city and the many gifts it has to offer. We live about 45 min from a rather large city. I'm not saying we have to travel this far to go to Walmart. The small town we live about 10 minutes outside of does have restaurants, a supercenter, a few other general stores.
While traveling into "the big city" it never fails as soon as we drive upon this certain bridge the view of the tall buildings come in sight. When this happens we hear "look look we're here we're in the big city."
It cracks us up everytime. I would say we make that drive at least once every two weeks. Sometimes more it just depends.
I actually grew up there for most of my childhood and have a large part of my family that still lives there. So to hear my children refer to it as the 'Big City' is humorous to me. These photographs were taken on our last Family Fun Day. We spent the day roaming around the riverfront, we went to Mass at the Cathedral, walked in the March for life and ended our day watching the sunset over a big beautiful bridge... How I love the city but it's a love I enjoy to visit not a love I want to experience daily. Really visits are even sweeter. You are able to view things you wouldn't if you lived there day in and day out. We want to expose the kids to all different walks of life finding the gifts from Christ in each of them~
