No more "sweet pea is eating my food and she or he is touching me."
We all love one another but needed our own space. Our home had become overwhelmed with toys, home school paper, clothes, crafts and so much more.
I am constantly cleaning out our closets etc., but we still have too much. I finally had enough. I kept telling myself Less stuff more life..... Less stuff more life.....
Simplicity for me is not only how full my closets are but simplicity in my heart, mind and life. When you remove the clutter you are able to see the true beauty and even then enjoy this beauty. I went into walmart picked up big black trash bags. If I had not used it in the last 3 to 6 months it pretty much was thrown out on its way to donation. I can not tell you how much better I feel. I will never go back to the way we were living. So many of us don't realize these materialistic things we think we need do not breath, do not love and do not serve. They are non living but sadly have such an amazing hold on the people of the world. I have to give a huge thanks to my dear friend Elizabeth who got me started. We spent on full evening cleaning my bedroom. What a job it was. In return I took her family photographs. She has a beautiful family that means so much to us. Hope you all have a blessed day full of simplicity.

awhhh...simplicity. Those very thoughts have been filling my mind lately. I think they may be God-breathed, as this world...and in particular, this Nation...has become infatuated with consumerism. And I'll be the first to admit that I have falled into that trap, time and time again. But for what, really!? The word 'Simplify' has been taking over my thought life lately, and I can't wait to get started!!
Blessings,
~ Tanya
Good for you for taking on the big task of clearing out all the non essentials. It's a daunting task for me. I have a whole storage closet that is just begging to be reduced to a more reasonable size.
Love the photo of Elizabeth and her cute family.
You took the thoughts right out of me. I have been saying this. Reading Little House in the Big Woods to the kids, has really brought to mind just how little we need. I feel like I am drowning in stuff. WE hve so many people in this house, and that, love, and then necessities, are all we need. I feel like the "stuff" just take away from my family. Stuff that has to constantly be cleaned, instead of spending time with my children that I would rather do.
Oh Congrats on the new van, I hear ya at that age they want space when they are in the car. I had to get a dodge durango because it had a third seat, they wanted the option to sit next to each other or not lol. God bless you.

Simplicity and elimination are always a goal around here. What a struggle though, coming from parents who are post-depression, and spent their lives trying to be frugal by SAVING. Balance in everything, right? The 3-6 month rule is great. I'll try...:)
It is sometimes hard to take the time to refocus, to sort out and clear... but you're right, it's so worth it! For a calmer home, peaceful atmosphere and uncluttered mind. We could all learn from giving away and living more simply.
xx
I couldn't agree more. All this stuff is going to burn up one day & will have no meaning. What a beautiful friend you have. I love simplicity...wish I had more of it. Always striving.
The more kids I have had the more I have realized that the less stuff I need. With my first child, she had everything....now on to my 6th baby coming soon I have no clothes ready or ammenities or loads of toys lined up... its almost a necessity to get rid of excessive things with each subsequent child. There just isn't any room for stuff!
I am so with you on this girl! If we aren't careful, "things" can consume us. There is no peace in clutter. I have to de-clutter every couple of months, and every time I swear I'm not going to let that happen again. It always seems to grow though. It is my constant fight.
love your blog. So cute. ahhh. simplicity... the holy grail for mommies.
enjoyed this post. :)

Catherine,
I too, did much of the very same thing last year and literally narrowed down my closet to about 10 things, 3 pairs of jeans, a few jackets, 3 pairs of shoes and can honestly tell you I have two drawers of clothes, being socks and underware. Everything else was excess stuff. I blessed someone with all my great corporate clothes who could use an affordable outfit to locate a job themselves.
My linen cabinet houses 2 changes of sheets for each bed, some spare blankets and that is all.
Here is hoping that you will love how much easier a simple life will make you much more happier!

Yes..simplicity!! I've been slowly trying to de-clutter our home which in turn is helping me to de-clutter my brain :) If I'm not using it, someone else might need it. It's finding the time to de-clutter that is hard.
Thank you sweetie....I had so much fun listening to our girly music, drinking our wine, and spending time together...Love our friendship. I need to get busy on my closet now:) Also, love the new heading you were working on...very fallish:) Love you!
LOVE you too so much Liz! Cant wait to come help you on your closet.
Thank you all for posting, your comments mean so much to me!
Congrat on the new van, I'm glad you all have some space. I am in the process of organizing my life too. My hubby and I are getting ready for the new baby and we need to decide what is needed and what isn't.
amen.
Thank you 'Taylor' and ~love
I love trash bags. Especially ones full of stuff from my house. Something about simplicity and living life without clutter is extremely peaceful to me. Great post!
Thank you Alanna
