Nursing my babies~

I understand we all have a variety of nursing experiences. The variety depending on the infants personality, milk supply, difficulties etc.
The time I gave birth to my first born I was at a rather young age. I was not educated on all the positive information pertaining to breastfeeding and attachment parenting. I failed to breastfeed my first born after  being separated from me for the first 24 hrs. During this time he was given a bottle.
After we were reunited he wanted nothing to do with nursing. I syringe feed him what little I had pumped. Now I know a list of paths we could have chosen leading us to a successful breastfeeding experience.
As soon as we were expecting our second child, Sunshine. I knew I wanted nothing more than to exclusively breastfeed her. Just after birth she was introduced to the breast and continued nursing for 20 minutes. The following day she had some difficulties latching. We both were learning. Soon enough the blisters had healed ,the engorgement phase was over and we became pros.
Sunshine was an eat and be done with it kind of baby. I really let her decided. Sometimes she would only nurse 10 to 15 minutes. Eat again 20 minutes later. She was also a busy baby while nursing. I can remember thinking, just relax. She nursed until she was 11 months old. I'm so happy we stuck it and enjoyed a successful nursing experience.
Just after Sweet Pea our youngest  was born I introduced her to the breast. She too latched on nursing for about 30 minutes. It came directly back to me even after three years had passed. Sweet pea was much different than Sunshine girl. Sweet pea loved to nurse. She would nurse and lay there looking up at me just as she is in this photograph.
Breastfeeding completely relaxed her.  She nursed past her first birthday. We may had even chosen to nurse longer, but I was dealing with much pain due to a yeast infection located in my milk duct. This was very hard to treat. Everytime my milk would come in I went through sharp intense pain. Nothing was helping. Nothing other than drying up my milk all together. It took a few months but finally the pain subsided.
I miss nursing my girls, it was such a special time in my experiences of motherhood.
Here is a link with a wonderful list of breastfeeding benefits.

I love nursing my babies, too! I nursed them all until they were 16 months and I know I would've nursed them even longer! That's the number one thing I'm looking forward to in this pregnancy is getting to hold my little one close while he nurses!

Nursing is the best thing in the world. A lot of challenges for me, too, but worth it all!

Such a privilege, isn't it? And so many stories to tell! I'm so glad we can encourage each other in this mothering journey...so many women before us were so isolated and uninformed...
Blessings!

I breastfed my first two for six months and my baby girl for a year. Besides all the health benefits for the baby, it is such a bonding experience, too.

I absolutely love nursing my babies. It is one of the best experiences that I've had as a mama. I nursed my oldest until she was 21 months, my second was over 2 years old {gasp!}, and I'm still nursing my 9 month old daughter. There is just nothing like the closeness you feel during that special time together.

How precious that picture is. I loved nursing, what a wonderful bonding experience and it's the best, most perfect food. I nursed all 5; even the twins! I always nursed them together because I never would have gotten any sleep had I done it separately.
