Girlfriends...

As a mother I want to be able to give my children all the wonderful gifts in life that God has given us. To grow and experience life as it unfolds. Something I can not give my children is friendship. Of course I am not only Sunshine's mother we are also buddies that will become closer friends as the years move on. The friendship I talk of here is a childhood friendship. A friend that becomes just as excited as she swings high on the tire swing. That giggles at little girl jokes. A friend that can spends hours picking flowers, playing house, feeding baby dolls and dressing up in fancy gowns along with sparkling plastic jewels. This is why Princess has been such an amazing gift to our Sunshine. These two girls are the greatest of friends. They met at our local home school group. Although Sunshine is a year older then princess they have tons in common. These photographs were taken in late August of 2009. Looking at them I see me and my childhood best friend. We shared an amazing bond of love and friendship. Thank you Lord for sending Sunshine this same gift...

It's so wonderful to see little girlfriends playing together.

I still remember my childhood friend, the pretend tea parties, the dancing... :)

we have a very transient life, living in the military, so having a childhood friend like i did growing up is one of the treasures of childhood that i am sad to know my kids probably will never have

Your description of childhood friends brings back so many memories of playing "house, house" and "shop, shop"; sleepovers and midnight feasts; secret handshakes; shared notes; etc. *sigh* It feels like a lifetime ago and I'm only 28!
Thanks for the memory spark :-)
