Memories I will hold long after my children are grown

On this day we laughed, we smiled, we pulled out the aprons, we ate cake batter, we picked out our favorite cupcake, we played with sprinkles....... and we baked.
How I love the time that comes with baking. Memories I will hold with me long after my children are grown.

Ingredients

• 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
• 1 1/3 cups sugar
• 3 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1 cup milk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 2 large eggs

Easy Cupcake Recipe Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Line cupcake pans with paper liners.
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.  Add shortening, milk, and vanilla.  Beat for 1 minute on medium speed.  Scrape side of bowl with a spatula.
Add eggs to the mixture.  Beat for 1 minute on medium speed.  Scrape bowl again.  Beat on high speed for 1 minute 30 seconds until well mixed.
Spoon cupcake batter into paper liners until 1/2 to 2/3 full.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool 5 minutes in pans then remove and place on wire racks to cool completely.
Once cupcakes are completely cooled, frost with your favorite frosting recipe or decorate as you desire.

PS. Thank you all for the encouraging, kind, sweet and thoughtful comments. Sunshine is feeling some better. Allen and I now have the flu along with all the pain that goes with it.  Thanks again for your thoughts and prayer. As I'm sure we will all be back to ourselves soon~

You know Catherine, I just love how your children are almost always right with you helping and having fun.

When I clicked on this post the first thing I saw was that little sweet pea licking the batter and I smiled because me and my little Sadie baked cookies today and I caught her doing the same thing. I had dough from my hands to arms and couldnt get to my camera in time.

Your such a sweet mama and yes these are memories you will have for a long time:)

Thanks so much for popping over Catherine, it was lovely to 'see' you! I love baking days too, sometimes I end up doing it all while they play and wait for the end product and other days they are right in the middle of it, fingers and all :) They are lovley memories thats for sure!

Baking is much fun isn't it. Both of my nieces love to bake and I feel it is because we started baking when they were very small.

Now I am looking forward to baking with my little girl.

That's beautiful! When I think of all the mess after these baking sessions or crafts where there are scraps all over the place, I just think of the fun memories! What beautiful traditions you're creating for your family. Keep it up and get well soon!
